Software reviews from a team that actually operates.

Software reviews and operations intel for D2C and ecommerce operators. Data terminal precision.

Who we are

The EcommerceOperator team is a working collective of D2C and ecommerce operators. Between us we've deployed thousands of software stacks across every category we cover — not evaluated at trade shows, not judged by feature lists, but run day-to-day in real operations.

We publish under one team byline because our reviews are consensus work, not any one person's take. When we say a tool is worth it, three of us have run it. When we say to skip it, at least two of us tried and switched off.

How we evaluate software

  1. Real deployment first. We only review tools we've actually run — usually for 30+ days, often longer. Free-trial reviews don't count.
  2. Total cost at scale. Sticker price is a lie. We compute real cost at 5, 10, 25 seats/locations/customers so operators know what they're actually buying.
  3. Failure modes matter more than features. Every tool has a happy-path demo. We test what breaks — data loss, sync failures, support latency, migration friction.
  4. Verdict, then reasoning. The first paragraph tells you whether to buy. The rest of the review defends the verdict with specifics.
  5. Update quarterly. Software changes. Our reviews get re-checked every 90 days; anything material gets a dated update note.

Editorial standards

  • Editorially independent. Rankings are never for sale. Vendors can't pay to appear, move up, or remove critical coverage.
  • Affiliate transparency. When we link to a product via an affiliate program, we disclose it. Affiliate status does not influence the review — bad tools get bad reviews regardless of commission.
  • Sponsor-free reviews. No sponsored posts. No "featured placement" fees. If a tool is in a comparison, it earned its spot.
  • Real names of vendors. We identify when a tool has an affiliate program with us and when it doesn't. Some of the tools we recommend most highly have no affiliate program at all.
